The Woolson Society

History

The Society began during a meeting of Woolson scholars at Rollins College, Winter Park, Florida, January 27-29, 1995.  It was organized by Kate Reich, director of the Woolson Archives, to mark the centenary of Woolson’s death. Conferees organized a society to plan future conferences and establish a permanent author society within the American Literature Association. The Woolson section at the ALA occurs once a year. Conferences sponsored by the Woolson Society are held every two or three years and the programs are archived by date.
